The business was shut down under former President George Bush and VP Dick Cheney.

Mitt Romney visited an Ohio factory, closed when President George W. Bush was in office, to make the case that President Barack Obama’s economic policies prevented the facility and others like it from reopening.

Standing in the middle of an empty warehouse floor yesterday, Romney blamed Obama for promoting measures that have slowed the economic recovery.

“It would have reopened by now, but it’s still empty,” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said. “It underscores the failure of this president’s policies with regards to getting the economy working again.”

Obama used the facility in Lorain, Ohio, that is owned by dry wall company National Gypsum (NGCO) Co. as a setting for his own campaign stop in February 2008.

“What I refuse to accept is that we have to stand idly by while workers watch their jobs get shipped overseas,” Obama said then. “We need a president who’s working as hard for you as you’re working for your families. And that’s the kind of president I intend to be.”

The Obama campaign shot back at Romney yesterday, charging him with misrepresenting the circumstances of the factory’s closing.

Romney Visits Factory Closed Under Bush, Blames Obama

This factory closed thanks to the economic policies and collapse that were caused by eight solid years of GOP administration, which turned one of the greatest surpluses in the history of the nation into a deficit, along with a collapse of banking, housing, and financial industries. This factory closed thanks to the outsourcing policies pushed for two decades by the corporate oligarchy to match their need to achieve as much short term profit as possible for themselves, regardless of the dire and negative consequences for America and the American workers.

It does really matter what Mitt Romney says. He will say something that contradicts anything he says 180 degrees with 24 hours. Sometimes within a matter of minutes. Certainly the next time he speaks to a different group of people. The man is not just a politician telling people what he wants. He is a serial liar, who would not know the truth if it walked up and hit him full in the face.

This is not even funny anymore. This man and the GOP are a clear and present danger to the future of this nation.

What does it say about how low the GOP has sunk when even the Washington Post prints a long article dissecting and analyzing what an utter, accomplished liar their presumptive nominee for the Presidency, Mitt Romney, is.

Among the attributes I most envy in a public man (or woman) is the ability to lie. If that ability is coupled with no sense of humor, you have the sort of man who can be a successful football coach, a CEO or, when you come right down to it, a presidential candidate. Such a man is Mitt Romney.

Time and time again, Romney has been called a liar during this campaign. (The various fact-checking organizations have had to work overtime on him alone.)
…
I admire a smooth liar, and Romney is among the best. His technique is to explain — that bit about not knowing what was in the ads — and then counterattack. He maintains the bulletproof demeanor of a man who is barely suffering fools, in this case Gingrich. His message is not so much what he says, but what he is: You cannot touch me. I have the organization and the money. Especially the money. (Even the hair.) You’re a loser.
…
But where Romney is different is that he is not honest about himself. He could, as he did just recently, stand before the National Rifle Association as if he were, in spirit as well as membership, one of them. In body language, in the blinking of the eyes, in the nonexistent pounding pulse, there was not the tiniest suggestion that here was a man who just as confidently once embodied the anti-gun ethic of Massachusetts, the distant land he once governed. Instead, he tore into Obama for the (nonexistent) threat the president posed to Second Amendment rights — a false accusation from a false champion.
…

Mitt Romney, a man of falsehoods

That’s today’s GOP.
