All Hoosiers who care about the ability of workers to organize and bargain to protect their rights against the predatory corporate oligarchy need to let the Democrats in Indiana know that they are doing the right thing in preventing Mitch Daniels and the GOP lackeys of the corporate oligarchy from ramming through the so-called “right to work” bill in Indiana. The GOP is desperate to get it passed before the Superbowl, because the professional athletes union has come out against the bill and what it represents, a PR nightmare for the Daniels and his crony capitalist party members.
When did the workers of America become the hated target of the GOP? How can Americans continue to support a party that now claims that teachers, policemen, fireman, factory workers, and those who create goods in the remaining manufacturing in America are the enemy, and the cause of the current depressed economy?
Never forget German pastor Martin Niemöller’s words about the failure of German intellectuals and thinkers to speak up and resist the growing evil that Hitler and the Nazi party represented. You would think the first half of the twentieth century would have indelibly engraved these words in the consciousness of the West, but instead, how quickly it seems we forget.
First they came for the communists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Following is my message to the Indiana Democratic Party posted via the above link.
As a Hoosier who often despairs at the economic madness fostered on this state by Daniels and the GOP, and the constant caving and cowardice of the Democratic party in response, I have been amazed and inspired to see that all but two or three Indiana Democrats have chosen to stand up for Indiana workers against the anti-worker madness of the so-called Right to Work legislation.
DO NOT GIVE IN.
Do you really want to allow Indiana to fall to the pitiful state of Wisconsin and Michigan under its current GOP leadership? They are actually LOSING jobs because of the insane and destructive acts of their newly elected GOP governors.
Mitch Daniels is a servant of the one percent. He and they want to reduce all the workers of the 99% to state of serfdom, and destroy all worker rights, and all of the safety net of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. All because 40% of the wealth for the one percent is not enough. They want it all.
Hades will freeze over before I vote for a Republican. But at this point in history, I am ready to withhold my vote and support from Democrats who don’t stop caving to the madness, and continue to allow it to happen.
