Just watched trailer for new movie with Kevin Kostner and Woody Harrelson, “The Highwaymen.” Two Texas Rangers go after the vicious murdering duo, Bonnie and Clyde.
I am looking forward to “The Highwaymen.” I have always contended that the 1967 film “Bonnie and Clyde” with Beatty and Dunaway represented the beginning of a downward spiral in American culture, where suddenly the bad guys were treated with sympathy as if they were the good guys. This new movie is obviously not going to do that. The end result of this trend in our popular culture is the inability to escape serial killer shows and movies, in which pathological murders are treated with cultlike adoration. Looking at you right now, Netflix, with your Ted Bundy crap.
