DCCC Decides to Help Liz Watson Flip IN-09 to Blue

I see in the news this morning that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has decided to pitch in and help Liz Watson, the Democratic candidate to oppose the current GOP incumbent, Trey Hollingsworth.

I will note with approval that Liz Watson does not hesitate to call a spade a spade. She refers to Hollingsworth as “Tennessee Trey,” alluding to the fact he is not even a Hoosier, but moved to the state so his rich family could buy the seat for him.

This is my district, it includes part of Bloomington / Monroe Country. Liz Watson is a serious contender, and would make a great Congressperson.

Far better than the current incumbent, who is a rich carpetbagger who is NOT a native Hoosier, but whose rich family bought him the seat with family money.

He is a perfect example of the current GOP, whose only interest is money, power, and abandoning all pretense of adherence to the rule of law and their oath to the Constitution to hold on to it. Their primary purpose is to represent their class, the one percent, and corporate oligarchy.

His emails (I subscribe to them) are perfect examples of blind blasting of GOP false memes and talking points, e.g. I still remember his pushing the “release the memos” effort to muddy the waters. Which of course ultimately backfired in face of the GOP, but by then they had moved on to their next disinformation campaign. I take every opportunity to respond to his weekly polls and rub reality in his face with a detailed commentary.

I will be donating and working to elect Liz Watson, and I would encourage everyone to do so.

What irritates me the most is the fact that if all the people in Bloomington who are associated with the Indiana University, the home campus of which is located here, who vote overwhelmingly Democratic, would get off their rear ends and flood to the polls, there are enough votes to swing this election.

Yet I have younger friends who keep refusing to go to the polls, because they insist on buying into the narrative that the Democratic party is as bad as the GOP, blah blah blah.

I am hoping that the era of Trump’s GOP has finally disabused them of that stupid notion.

We are way beyond purity testing of candidates, we are in save the damned Republic territory this year.

This district has been gerrymandered, and it is harder, but in the past it elected great Democratic candidates such as Frank McCloskey, who sadly died in 2003, and the very famous Lee Hamilton, who represented this district from 1965 to 1969, with great distinction and leadership for the party and the nation. He was born in 1931, and is still with us. He was a vice chair on the 9/11 commission. I have had the honor of meeting and speaking with him. If only we had representatives like Hamilton again. If only. With Liz Watson, we have a chance of that.

I would urge everyone to make IN-09 and Indiana great again by voting out the election buying wealthy GOP carpetbagger, and voting in a true Hoosier who will represent ALL of the people, and uphold the Constitution and rule of law.
